An interesting new responsibility this year......Saturday Maddison was called in to care for some baby chickens that were left over from Easter sales.
Poor little things! Every year people seem to think its fun to dye and sell baby chicks for Easter. What happens when they grow up a little and aren't so cute anymore? They get dropped off at the bird rescue...or, in this case, left in a parking lot with a sign that says "FREE CHICKENS." This is where Maddison comes in. This year, she is also assigned to Chicken duty! She is totally thrilled!As always, Maddison is also assigned to ducklings. Today after school Maddison got to care for the first 10 of the season.
Speaking of Spring babies....April is also kitten season. Last week while visiting a local Kitty rescue, I was able to get Maddison signed up for volunteering!! YAY! Maddison will be super busy doing what she loves most this Spring, lending a helping hand! And, of course....one special kitten is a keeper. Meet "Racer"......

That sounds so fun!!! I think it's great that she has already found something that she loves and that she's learning the importance of giving back, such a wonderful lesson for kids to learn at a young age.

Oh, those little chickies with the dyed feathers! That kind of stuff really bothers me. But your daughter, however, just blows me away. I am so impressed by her passion. What an amazing girl, she is! And you are an amazing mom to support and encourage her the way you do!
Racer is so cute, as is Lily. You haven't posted about Lily lately. Is she doing better? I want a dog just like her!
those little ducklings look like wood ducks and they are adorable and they will imprint on maddison and to them she will be their mommy . I saw these babies all the time on the farm my grands owned during the summers there . Oh she is so lucky and love racer and yeah it is a shame that ppl dump animals . There is a special place in hell for ppl like that . I hate it . Oh well good luck to maddison and she is a special girl to take care of gods creatures .
